Born outside of Chicago in Rockford, Illinois (U.S.A.) in 1980, Virgil Abloh is an artist, architect, and fashion designer. After earning a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, he obtained a master’s degree in Architecture at the Illinois Institute of Technology. It was there where Abloh was introduced to a curriculum established by Mies van der Rohe, formed from the notions of Bauhaus, that taught him to combine the fields of art, craft and design. These theories, merged with contemporary culture, make up Abloh’s inter-disciplinary practice today.

3.5 watts per channel into 8 ohms

10 Hz - 20 kHz +/- <1 dB

17.75” w x 10.25 d x 7” h

50 lb.

The first Single Ended Triode amp I ever built was a 2A3. It seemed like a good entry into SET but I saw it as just that. In the years since I have built, owned and auditioned all of the popular output tubes and topologies: 300B, 211, 845, 45, 811 tubes running in single ended, push pull, parallel, etc. But I always come back to the trusty 2A3. For me, it has plenty of power and a great tonal balance.

I developed this amplifier in Japan with an associate of Isamu Asano. By now I have had a great deal of experience with his designs. This amp is a grafting together of a few different designs of Asano, taking my favorite aspects of each circuit.
