In 2019, Virgil Abloh and artist Futura—supported by Alaska Alaska and ICNCLST—embarked on a multi-collaboration project informally titled “Conversations.” Covering art, fashion, and media, this shared endeavor produced art installations for Louis Vuitton in Paris and Tokyo, a fashion collection and Paris Fashion Week presentation for Off-White, sneakers for Nike, book and magazine covers for Rizzoli and Whitewall Magazine, stage visuals for Coachella, as well as varied talks and edition releases for Figures of Speech.
For the final stop of FOS at the Brooklyn Museum, Futura—via his design engine Futura Laboratories—created two pieces featuring not only iconography from the FL studio, but also Abloh’s own candelabra icon. Conceptually, this capsule serves as a lasting ode to this powerful and beloved partnership: approachable, friendly, and accessible.
Proceeds from the collection will benefit the Virgil Abloh Foundation.
